A 31-Day Prayer Journey for Spiritual Renewal

First, I wish to thank you for your commitment to joining us this month to pray for Spiritual Renewal in our personal lives, families, churches, education, government, and Israel.

While the overarching application of the Prayer Guide is to deepen our daily walk with the Lord, the daily prayer points will reflect some of the rhythms of our Prayer Call related to faith, family, and freedom, integrating Scripture and prayer points. Feel free to use the included Bible verses to assist in focused prayer or adjust based on the Holy Spirit working in and through you.

The prayer guide is divided into three weeks of seven-day increments, and the fourth week focuses on a ten-day prayer period. Each Saturday is dedicated to praying for pastors and churches, while Mondays are dedicated to fasting. You will find each week's prayer guide published down below.

It's important to note that Biblical fasting involves abstaining from food for spiritual purposes. This could be done as an expression of remorse for wrongdoing, mourning for a loss, or as a spiritual discipline to focus on spiritual matters. This information is from the Logos Bible Study software. (edited)

“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you,” Matthew 6:16-17 (NASB).

“Is this not the fast which I choose to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free and break every yoke?” Isaiah 58:6 (NASB).

(*Please use your best judgment regarding whether fasting from food presents a health risk. Note that one may fast from certain activities that do not involve food. The Lord knows your motives.)

The Prayer focus for each week is:
Week 1: August 1-7 – Prayer Focus to Draw Closer to God
Week 2: August 8-14 - Prayer Focus on Family
Week 3: August 15-21 – Prayer Focus on the Church
Week 4: August 22-31 – Prayer Focus on Education, Government, and Israel

Thank you for your faithful participation. I thank the Lord for you and pray for His continued blessings upon your spiritual journey through the coming days and beyond.

With a Grateful Heart,
Pastor Jay Johnston
