Your Kingdom Come

August 8, 2025
“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10

We have a verse given to us as both a declaration and an invitation that captures the core of our prayer life. When we pray, "Your kingdom come," we are asking for God's divine rule and reign to take over our world, starting within our hearts.

Beloved, we are called to surrender our plans and desires and to join God so that we align ourselves with His plans and purposes.

Friends, the Kingdom of God is not distant; it is wherever God reigns with authority, presence, and transformative power. It is a realm where justice overcomes oppression, healing restores brokenness, and peace dispels chaos.

Every time we pray for His kingdom to come, we are asking Him to release His full power over our lives—our families, communities, and nation, and the world. Isaiah 9:7 declares:

“Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.”
Isaiah 9:7

What a promise for us, friends: His kingdom is expanding, and we are invited to join Him.

However, the prayer does not end when we cry out for His kingdom to come. "Your will be done" is a powerful declaration of our willingness to surrender our desires to God's perfect plan. It is a courageous prayer of trust!

Yes, my friends, trust that God knows what is best for us and that His purposes and plans are far greater than ours. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6

This surrender is not a sign of weakness but a testament to our faith in God and His sovereignty.

Matthew 6:10 reminds us that heaven isn't just a place we go after we die; it's a way to live here and now. As we pray, we recognize that God's will is perfectly carried out in heaven, and it should be reflected on earth.

It's a joy that God uses us as vessels for His kingdom, spreading His love, grace, and righteousness in our daily lives. As the Holy Spirit works to spiritually transform us, we have a responsibility to transform our surroundings and make heaven a reality through our actions.

Life Application:

Today, pause to ask the Lord this question: Lord, am I pursuing my own kingdom or Yours? Invite the Holy Spirit to show you where you need to let go and trust in His divine plan. Think about how you can reflect His kingdom values in your relationships, work, and community.

Call to Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Let Your kingdom come into my life today. Lord Jesus, I surrender my will to Yours and ask for Your guidance in opening my heart to Your plans and purpose for me.

May my words, actions, and heart reflect the beauty and authority of heaven. Use me as an instrument of Your peace and love, bringing Your kingdom wherever I go.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
