Blessed are the Peacemakers

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Matthew 5:9
In a world of conflict, Jesus calls us to be peacemakers. This beatitude challenges us to go the extra mile to pursue peace in our relationships and communities. Peacemaking requires courage, humility, and willingness to listen and see things from the other's perspective.
When we embody peace, we reflect the heart of God and demonstrate our identity as His children.
Peacemakers work under the authority of the Holy Spirit as doors are open for them to take the initiative to foster reconciliation and harmony, embodying the love of Christ in a fractured world. When we demonstrate peace in our lives, we reflect the heart of God and identify as children of God.
Friends, a peacemaker is not passive or simply waiting for something to happen; they are people seeking God and working to promote harmony and reconciliation as they live out the love of Jesus in a hurting world.
Call to intercession:
- Pray for a spirit of peace to fill your heart and flow in your community.
- Ask God to make you a peacemaker, as He works in and through you to be used by Him to reconcile broken relationships and build unity and understanding among people. In praying this, consider what you can do to promote peace in your daily life.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the promise that we are called sons of God. Lord, I pray that You make me a peacemaker in my world.
Lord, as You open doors for me to foster reconciliation and unity, may You receive all glory and honor through this work.
Lord, thank You for unifying my heart with You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Final thoughts:
Remember that being a peacemaker shows courage and humility.
If you are a Christ follower, I encourage you to adopt the mindset of a peacemaker instead of constantly complaining and causing chaos in your home, workplace, church, or community. Focus on issues that are Kingdom-minded as you seek the Lord to be a peacemaker.
