Trusting God Through Life's Interruptions

Friends, I believe we all recognize that life often doesn’t go as planned. We make careful plans, set goals, and strive to follow through, yet suddenly, our plans are interrupted. A phone call, an unexpected delay, or a major life change can throw us off course. While interruptions can feel frustrating, God often uses them for His divine purpose.

In the Bible, interruptions were often God’s way of redirecting His people. Consider Moses. While tending sheep in the wilderness, he was interrupted by a burning bush (Exodus 3:2–4). That unexpected encounter transformed his life and led to Israel’s deliverance. God interrupted Moses not to hinder him but to fulfill a greater calling.

Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” 

God’s interruptions may seem inconvenient or confusing, yet His plans are always perfect.

When life is interrupted, rather than resisting or growing anxious, we can pause to seek God’s voice. He may be redirecting us, teaching us patience, or preparing us for something greater than we imagined. Trust Him in the interruption.

Heavenly Father, when my plans are disrupted, help me trust Your greater plan. Teach me to be still and listen, knowing You work all things for my good (Romans 8:28). In Jesus Name, Amen.
